Monday through Friday, Home Delivered meals to
residents 60 years and older living in eastern Knox county—East
Knox and Danville school district. Meals prepared in the
licensed kitchen of Danville United Methodist Church and
sponsored by Sanctuary Community Action. Call 599-7224 or
599-9023 for information.

Monday through Friday meals prepared and served
‘on site’ at the Danville United Methodist Church dining area
for area residents 60 years and older. Reservations must be
received 24 hours in advance. Please contact the kitchen at
599-9023 and leave a message if necessary. Please check the
menus published weekly in Mt Vernon News. This service is
in addition to home delivered meals. Enjoy the opportunity to
visit with your neighbor. .Funding
for meals provided through the Senior Services Levy.
Sanctuary Community Action is now located in the new facility at
304 Market St. Parking is available in the newly graveled
parking area directly in front of the entrance to the new
location. It is handicapped accessible. The medical services are
located on the first floor—no steps!
September 8---WIC Clinic, 8:30am to 5
pm. WIC is a nutrition education program providing healthy
supplemental foods for expectant and/or nursing mothers as well
as families with infants and children up to age 5 who live in
Knox county and meet the liberal income guidelines. Please
contact the Health Dept (392-2200) to schedule for the WIC
clinic at The Sanctuary. Please mention the Danville site when
scheduling.
September 8--- Infant and Childhood
Immunizations 3pm to 5pm….No appointment necessary
Please bring your immunization record. This school year is in
full swing and up-to-date immunizations are required. It is
important to maintain your child’s schedule of immunizations so
he/she will be ready when reaching school age. Any questions,
contact Knox County Health Dept-392-2200. Chicken Pox
vaccinations are available on a walk-in basis. This will be
the only opportunity for immunizations this month.
September 14 & 28-- Family Health
Clinic, 8am to 11am—Medical services available for children
& adults—staffed by Linda Ambrose, Certified Nurse practitioner,
associated with Westerville Family Physicians. Appointments
are necessary 24 hours in advance to assure the doctor will be

Walk-ins welcome. Call before coming in. Services
include Health Maintenance, sick visits, physical exams,
diabetic services, vision and hearing screenings, cardiac
services, prescription refills with office visit. More

September 15—Danville Area Senior
Citizen Lunch and program—12 noon, St Luke Community Center.
Ladies and gentlemen from North Bend Brethern, Brinkhaven Church
of Christ, Howard, Wesley Chapel and Jelloway Methodist Churches
will be preparing and serving a delicious Ham Loaf dinner at 12
noon. Suggested donation of $5. Reservations due Monday,

Neighbarger 599-2930. Please leave your name, number
attending and phone number on the answering machine if we are
not able to talk to you directly. North Bend Jazz Trio—Dick
Wyman on acoustic guitar, Wendell Thompson on upright bass and
Betty Thompson on keyboard, penny whistle and harmonica—will
entertain following dinner. Interim Health Care will be offering
free blood pressure check and glucose screenings from 11am to
11:45am.

babies and children to grow up strong and healthy. Expectant and

if you live in Knox county and meet the liberal income
guidelines. Contact the Health Dept (392-2200) to determine
income eligibility.

4:30pm--Southeastern Ohio Legal. Legal help without attorney
fees for people with income less than 125% of the poverty level
and limited savings and assets. Assistance with public
benefits, family problems, housing, health care, consumer
problems, utilities, to mention a few. No income requirement for
individuals over 65 years of age. Contact 1-888-831-9412 to make
an appointment.

5,12,19 & 26—NAMI (National Alliance for Mental
Illness) Family Workshops..10 am to 12 noon—Service
Center meeting room, 2nd floor—handicap accessible.
The Hand to Hand Family Education Program, a NAMI Ohio
education program designed to foster learning, healing and
empowerment among parents and families of children with
emotional/mental/neurobiological disorders will be offered at
The Sanctuary in Danville beginning Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at
10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon, and will meet each Wednesday
through November 23. Hand to Hand is a series of 8-weekly
classes and will be taught by Dodie Melvin, director of the
local NAMI Knox/Licking Counties Ohio affiliate. The class is
free but preregistration is required. Call 740-397-3088 to
register or for more information.

8---Lasagna Dinner, 5pm to 7pm at St. Luke Center….sponsored
by Sanctuary Community Action. All proceeds benefit the general
operating fund. Menu: Lasagna, green beans, salad, garlic
bread, Texas sheet cake & beverage. Adults: $7 Children under
10 years of age $3.50. Carryout will be available.
